Frank Edward Emory, Jr. is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Novant Health, overseeing Compliance, Legal, External Affairs, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Privacy, Human Resources and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Frank’s career has been defined by a commitment to defending rights and creating opportunities through a variety of determinants of economic development in his home state of North Carolina.

Healthcare: Through his work at Novant Health, Frank is helping to ensure that the organization thrives and delivers remarkable care to everyone

Supporting Businesses: Frank’s serves as the Chair of the Economic Development Partnership, having been appointed by Governor Roy Cooper in 2017.

Board Memberships: Frank serves on the Board of Directors of ScanSource (NASDAQ: SCSC), a leading global provider of technology products and solutions, where he serves as a member of the Audit, Compensation, Governance, Nominating, and Risk Committees.

Prior to joining Novant Health, Frank was a partner, Co-Head of the Litigation and Labor Group and managing partner of the Charlotte office of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, focused on helping businesses meet the various challenges of operating in order to thrive.

He also served as Chair of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for 2012.
Transportation and City Planning: Frank was the first African American and youngest Chair of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission.

He also served for eight years on the North Carolina Board of Transportation.

Protecting Rights: Frank worked for seven years litigating for one of the best-known civil rights firms in the country.

He is a past president of the Mecklenburg County Bar, is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Permanent Member of the Judicial Conference of the Fourth Circuit.

He has received numerous accolades, including the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina’s Highest Civilian Honor.

Education: Frank Served on the Executive Committee of the Duke University Board of Trustees.

He and his wife Lisa created a scholarship at both UNC School of Law and Duke University
