Stephen D. Hoffman, co-founding partner of Hoffman & Kessler LLP, is a leading trial lawyer with decades of experience in successfully handling a wide range of commercial and intellectual property cases in the federal and state courts and in arbitrations.
Steve’s clients have ranged from large international banks, industrial companies, conglomerates, and shipping companies to publishing companies, high net worth individuals and a foreign government. He has successfully represented those clients as plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving financial derivatives, letters of credit, collection of delinquent loans, copyright and trademark infringement, employment discrimination, the rights of privacy and publicity, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, restrictive covenants, sovereign, consular and diplomatic immunity, the antitrust, securities and environmental laws, and contested estate matters, among other issues.
Steve has been honored as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyers honorary society limited to 3500 lawyers nation-wide, less than one-half of one percent of the total number of attorneys in the United States. He has been recognized for excellence in trial work by “Best Lawyers in America”, “Americas 100 Top Attorneys”, and Super Lawyers. Over the past 20 years, Steve served as President, and a Member of the Board of Directors of the New York County Lawyers’ Association (one of the largest local bar associations in the United States and the first major bar association in the United States to admit all attorneys in good standing regardless of race, religion, gender, or national origin), Vice-President of the New York State Bar Association, and a Member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association.
Steve is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
