Michael John Ramirez is a partner in the Dallas office of Gordon & Rees’s Environmental/Toxic Tort, Commercial Litigation, Trucking & Transportation, Professional Liability Defense and Cyber, Privacy & Data Security practice groups. He has represented clients in a nationwide practice involving products liability, mass torts, and premises liability, including toxic exposures to asbestos, silica, formaldehyde, mixed dust cases, vapors, mold, cotton dust, benzene, and other chemical exposures. Mr. Ramirez has extensive experience in trial and motion practice and has appeared in courts for trial across the country. He has served as regional trial counsel for several jurisdictions as well as lead trial counsel in Texas for several clients. Mr. Ramirez has coordinated the defense of claims reaching the thousands and effectively managed large case dockets. Mr. Ramirez previously served as the Chair of the Mass Tort/Product Liability group in a prominent Dallas law firm.
Mr. Ramirez’ tort and commercial litigation practice is broad based and includes prosecution and defense of breach of contract, fraud, business disputes, fiduciary duty, the Texas Theft Liability Act, tortious interference, trucking litigation, computer forensics, internal investigation of data breach, DTPA, TCPA, CFAA, FCPA, ethics, theft of trade secrets, construction defect, and warranty claims. He also has consulted with clients on the inspection and investigation of their companies and facilities.
Mr. Ramirez has consulted with and represented individuals and companies in professional liability matters including lawyers, medical professionals and hospitals, design and engineering professionals. Mr. Ramirez also has defended clients before the State Bar grievance committee. Mr. Ramirez is a former legal professional liability claims counsel who managed litigation and coverage issues for a major insurance carrier. Mr. Ramirez has presented nationwide on Legal Malpractice and Ethics and recently gave a presentation on ethical issues titled “In-House or Outside Counsel: Which is More Dangerous? Current Issues Involving Ethical Conflicts, Spoliation and Sanctions.” Mr. Ramirez has substantial investigative, litigation, and trial experience as both a prosecutor and civil attorney.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Ramirez proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
